Teledesic was a company set up in the mid 1990s with the ambition of using a sophisticated satellite network to provide fast Internet connection services. The project was initially backed up by significant players, including Microsoft, Bill Gates (Microsoft), Paul Allen (Microsoft), Craig McCaw and Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

The project was halted after the unsuccesfull start of Iridium and Globalstar. Teledesic merged with ICO Global Communications. The new company managed to place on GEO satellite in orbit and is planning to offer satellite communication services in the near future.
