The Ascom 21 was Thuraya's first satellite phone. It is dual mode phone, that can work both within the GSM network and Thuraya's satellite network (see Thuraya coverage) and similar in size and capabilities to the Hughes 7101 and Hughes 7100. The Ascom 21 has a built in GPS chip.
