| Thuraya's new 2008 coverage area |
Until March 2008 Thuraya has been using two GEO satellites. A third one, called Thuraya-3, was placed on geosynchronical transfer orbit on January 15th, 2008. It has become operational as of the beginning of April 2008. Thuraya now covers Europe, North and Central Africa, most of Asia and the Australian-Pacific area.
