Thuraya is a satellite phone service provider that covers most of Europe, the Middle East, Central, South and East Asia, North and Central Africa, Australia and some of the Pacific areas. This area (seen on the map below) is covered since March 2008.

Thuraya expanded in March 2008 its coverage area. Take a look at the new map and check the list of covered territories.

Thuraya's coverage area includes nearly all countries in North and Central Africa. While such countries as Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Malawi are within Thuraya's so-called optimal coverage area, four countries: Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola are only partly in this area. Countries further south are either partly within the sub-optimal area or have no coverage at all. Check the maps.
