Globalstar's GSP 1700

The GSP 1700 is Globalstar's latest handheld. It's smaller and lighter not only than Globalstar's earlier satellite phone, but also significantly smaller and nearly two times lighter than Iridium's 9505a.


Dimensions: 135 x 55 x 37 mm (5.3 x 2.2 x 1.5 inches) without the antenna. The GSP 1700's antenna is rotable.

Weight: 200g (7 ounces).

  
  
Screen: 4x12 character, backlit, color display

Battery: 4 hours of talk time or 10-36 hours of standby time (depending on whether the phone is in stow mode or not).

The GSP 1700 is somewhat cheaper than the Iridium 9505a and costs around $1000 (as of November 2007).
