Previously Globalstar has already launched a group of satellites in October 2010. Six new satellites are to be launched in May 2011 and an additional two sets in another 2-3 months time.

The new satellites are a remedy to Globalstar’s current problems. Since 2007 users of the Globalstar satellite phone network have been encountering connectivity issues due to the sudden and unexpected degrading on the original Globalstar satellite network. The new satellites are supposed to be fully operational by 2012.
