SPOT |

satellite phone dictionary

SPOT is a personal tracking deviced introduced by Globalstar. It contains a GPS chip and is able to transmit signals using the Globalstar satellite system. The transmission is only one-way, which means the user of the device cannot receive messages or confirmations. The SPOT tracker is able to send out the following messages:

  • 911 Alert - to alarm rescuers and emergenty search groups
  • Ask for Help - to alert a predefined contact, i.e. family or a friend
  • Check-in - to send current coordinates to predefined contact
  • Track Progress - to periodically send current coordinates of the SPOT user, which can be then viewed on Google Maps.
  • Roadside Assistance
